Windows 10 is live, and you can download it right away! Here’s why you should.
Windows 10 Overview
Windows 10 is the future. Why are you stuck in the past?
The One Reason
We had Windows XP, Windows 7, and now we have Windows 10. In between we had Windows Vista, Windows 8. Microsoft releases 1 good OS, then a shitty one. Windows 8 was pretty shitty, so go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10 already.
Most Win 7 and 8 programs are compatible with Windows 10. You can always use your favorite search engine to see if it’s compatible with Windows 10, but it most likely is.
If you aren’t convinced already, I’ll include some other reasons why you should want to upgrade.
Why should I get Windows 10?
Lets talk about the design.
The start menu looks way better than Windows 7 and Windows 8. Increase the height by dragging the top edge up, and you’re good to go.
The icons are modern, and looks great. With the exception of the Title bar buttons (minimize, maximize, exit). They look like shit. The X is a joke, it’s not even done correct (blurry).
The task bar is almost perfect. All you have to do is right-click > properties, and tick the 3rd box, “Use small taskbar buttons”, and “Always combine, hide labels” from the 2nd drop-down menu. Who needs text anyway?
The padding is good in most places, but in the Settings.. I don’t think they changed it from Windows 8, and that UI was made for tablets, and people with fat fingers.
How often do you use alt + tab? I use it a lot, and I usually have more than 5 windows open at once. Windows 10 makes it so much easier to switch between windows, mostly because the thumbnails are bigger, and there’s more than one row.
They also included another way to manage your windows. Press Win + tab once to see what windows are open, and if you use more than one monitor; which one the windows are located on.
But wait, there’s more. You can also create another Desktop, if you for example want to separate different tasks, lets say Work and Entertainment.
When you press Win + Tab, in the bottom right corner, there’s an icon that says “New Desktop”. When you click that, a new desktop is created. On this Desktop, no windows that are opened on the other Desktop are visible. You’ll have to press Win + Tab again to change back.
If you want the most out of your graphics card and processor, you’ll want to upgrade for this reason alone. DirectX 12 will increase multithread scaling and CPU utilization by 50%. Everything that utilizes the CPU and the GPU will see a performance boost, so if that’s something that interests you, you should upgrade.
PackageManagement is a Linux-style package management framework that will make it easier to install, discover, and handle software.
