10+ Free Blog Directories

This is a list of the top free blog directory submission sites in 2013. Website and blog directories are used to gain backlinks. Backlinks help search engines rank your domain to see how relevant the content is, and this list of 50+ web directories should be enough for you to get a decent amount of backlinks for your site. When you create a new website, it has no backlinks. Google ranks every website listed in their search engine, and gives them a number from 1-10. This number is called a PR (Page Rank). The more backlinks your website has, the bigger the number of PR your site will get.

What is Directory Submission? Well, you follow one of these links, fill out all the information as good as possible. Then after a few days, to a few weeks your website will be included or declined. You can also choose to pay a small fee to get faster inclusion, or a featured link on some pages, or all pages. When you’ve been included, depending on the type of directory, you’ll receive at least one backlink. Some directories fetch posts from your RSS feed, but only if you’ve submitted a feed during the registration.

Note: The first directory you should try to get into is Dmoz, it’s one of the most reputable, and sought after directories on the web. If you have the money, you can submit your website to Yahoo’s Directory, the annual cost is $299.

Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

I started with Joomla, but after a while I migrated from Joomla to WordPress and wish I had started with WordPress instead. It’s the best CMS for these types of websites and I highly recommend it.

Hey Jim great list! We’ve moved away from general directory listings for most clients but sometimes you need to. Kind of hard to find enough blogs and niche sites to list a company that makes say concrete molds for example.

    thx – Cheers
